A DEDICATION TO THE LEGACY OF REESE BLACKBURN
April 15, 1991 - January 29, 2013
Reese Blackburn created Joey Speckles to help younger generations realize that anyone, no matter how big, small, or different, has the chance to rise above their own challenge.
Born in April, 1991 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and later diagnosed with Asperger at an early impressionable age, he struggled throughout his life both socially and educationally. However, the challenges he faced didn't hinder his creative process; he picked up visual arts and used the creation of his own fictional characters to illustrate not only the adversities of being truly different, but also to embrace being one of a kind.
This philosophy allowed Reese to live independently despite his disabilities and prompted him to create Generation Prime and the inspiring tale of "What's So Special About Joey Speckles?"
